Research Atlanta Records : Research files, 1930-1993, undated (Bulk: 1970-1992).

This series contains material documenting the various research projects and/or topics studied by Research Atlanta. In some cases the research files document research for a specific report. In other instances the records consist of general subject material that was used for multiple reports. Documents that were maintained and/or used for multiple reports were often labeled by Research Atlanta as [Subject name]/Atlanta or Georgia or National. Research topics include annexation, consolidation or reorganization of government entities and services; the Atlanta Public Library system and Zoo Atlanta; the arts; charitable giving; Atlanta municipal government; criminal justice and public safety; economic and urban development; education; finance; high tech industries; housing; labor; minority businesses; parks and recreation; polling; social services; transportation; and physical development, which includes metro Atlanta infrastructure, land use and zoning. The series also documents specific reports, such as the Atlanta Report Card and Decade of Decision, which pertain to multiple issues. In addition to these subjects and reports, the research files include general subject files on organizations and other miscellaneous topics as well as a clippings file. One specific topic that was studied and documented was the impact of the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act on local governments. Other subjects of note are race relations, desegregation, taxicab regulations, homelessness, and MARTA.
